Profile

Stephanie Farne joined Education & Reference team at Boston College Law Library in 2021. Stephanie provides research support to students and faculty and teaches Advanced Legal Research. She also serves as the Library Liaison for to the Boston College Law Review.

Prior to coming to BC Law Library, Stephanie worked in academic law libraries, an AmLaw 100 firm and at undergraduate libraries, most recently at Babson College. Stephanie received a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a J.D. from Northeastern Law School and an M.L.I.S. from Simmons University.

What is the most interesting research question you have gotten?

Whether police officers have used bankruptcy to set aside civil fines/judgments related to misconduct.

What is your favorite legal research source?

Your friendly E&R librarians right here at BC Law. We can get you off to a quick and efficient start with any legal research project. Don't know where to start? Looking for some study aids for help in your classes? Just ask us!

What is your favorite vacation spot?

By the ocean - at the beach at Cape Cod or hiking in Acadia in Maine.

What is your favorite book?

I am a fan of historical fiction. A recent favorite was The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict. Historical fiction about a librarian. What could be better?

What is the last thing you binge watched?

With my family, we watch a lot of Marvel (as my kids say, MCU). We have been watching all of the Disney+ Marvel based series like Loki, Wanda Visions, etc. When I get to watch solo, I have been watching Call the Midwife.

What are your hobbies?

I love to be outdoors - gardening, hiking, biking, running. I also like to cook and experiment with new recipes.

Do you have any pets?

Astro, an orange Siberian (low allergen) cat.

Any inside tips for life at BC Law?

There are water bottle fillers on campus & don't park in the yellow lined spaces if you do not have the right parking pass.
